First Ski trip of the season!

2 weeks ago, we decided to head to the mountains for the day! It was warm (above freezing), we had nothing on the calendar and the roads were clear, so it seemed like a great day to go. Last year the kids skied in Jasper at Marmot Basin so this time we decided to try Banff. We went to Sunshine Mountain because Chris had been there before and liked it. The kids did awesome. Even Ivy got out for a couple runs. According to Chris, there was very little complaining after the initial run and they just wanted to keep going! We were one of the last people on the mountain..we even missed the shuttle to our car:) It was a long day of driving (8 hours total), but it was totally worth it and we can't wait for the next time!

We had a 17 minute gondola ride up to the chalet

Ivy and I hung out in the chalet for most of the afternoon! She played with her Peppa pig characters, put together puzzles while I drank coffee and read my book. Not a bad way to spend a day!

Finally it's Ivy's turn! She loved it. No video because Chris was too afraid to let this wild one too far out of his reach:)

Here comes the crew inside ready for a break!

Singing, Santa and Sledding

Last Saturday Max and Mya sang at the Festival of Trees in downtown Edmonton. We went last year and really enjoyed it so we were excited to go again! This year Mya was the one with the solo (actually a duet, but we called it a solo:) She was nervous, but got up and did her best and we were so proud of her! It wasn't that long ago that she would not have been interested in something like this. They each sang 2 songs (They are in different choirs this year) and then we spent some time walking around looking at the trees, the gingerbread houses and meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus! (Mya is front row center kind of tucked behind some girls)

You can see Mya's duet if you click HERE! (sorry it's shaky. I was sharing a seat with an impatient 4-year old while Chris stood in the back with our good video camera)

After we got home, we went sledding for the first time this season! It was a beautiful day and we took advantage of the snow we have. It's melting fast, so I'm not sure how long it will be here if we don't get more! Mya and Max spent a majority of the time building a ramp and surfing down the hill on their "snowboards" and sled. Here is a video of Mya "surfing" down the hill.
