July 1st

July 1st will now be one of my favorite days of the year! Not only is it Canada's birthday (which means a day off and lots of celebrations going on) but I now have a niece whose birthday is July 1st!! Quinn Rosen Brown was born at the Naval Hospital on Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan today. We are so happy she is here and we can't wait to meet this cute little girl! Ivy calls her "twin" and Mya can't wait to take care of her like her aunt Tara promised. Max saw her on facetime and said "I'm so glad I have another cousin!" Pretty much couldn't have said it better myself. Her entrance wasn't exactly a smooth one, but I'll leave that story for my sister's blog! I will just say that little Quinn is one loved little girl! There were people saying a few extra prayers all over the world the last 24 hours:) Below are a couple of screen shots I took today while we were FaceTiming with them.

And to celebrate Canada Day, I dressed the kids in their best Old Navy Canada gear and we headed to the zoo! There were fireworks tonight, but they start at 11pm because of the sun, so we decided to pass on that! Tomorrow is a work day and I have a feeling some people will be dragging! The zoo was fun, but at the end of it, we decided we are still a good year to year and a half away from Disney World with Ivy for multiple reasons! She didn't like the animal characters and she was not interested in being in the stroller or doing basically anything we asked her to do! On a positive note, she did use the "washroom" and stayed dry the entire time. Today was not only Quinn's birthday and Canada's birthday, but it was also Lucy, the elephant at the zoo's birthday too! She turned 39 and they had her out roaming around a bit. She's a well trained elephant so they let her be in the grass without a fence and we took a couple pictures. Ivy was not a fan of being that close so those pictures are just of Mya and Max. The other picture is a collage of the day and one of Ivy's favorite spots..the prairie dogs. This one prairie dog just sat up and looked at Ivy for the longest time!
