Happy Birthday buddy! Although you are not an even number this year, you are still pretty happy that it's your birthday! I can't believe you are 9. This is sad, and dad doesn't like me to say this, but you are halfway done living in our house. I sure hope the next 9 don't go as fast as the first, but I doubt it. Here's a few things about you at 9.
You love talking....especially to adults. Your favorite time to get a haircut is when I drop you off and come back to get you later. Getting to talk to Katie all by yourself makes you so happy. Teachers/Librarians/Principals/Secretaries love you because you chat with them when it's okay to chat and you're quiet when it's time to be quiet. You have no idea how happy that makes me because I remember teaching those kinds of kids and they were my favorites too. You have been having
You and Mya get along better than you and Ivy. You two are kind of like oil and water...it doesn't help that Ivy is borderline obsessed with Mya right now so she wants nothing to do with you! You have a good sense of humor and appreciate a good joke. You are onto round 2 with orthodontics. Right now you have the herbst appliance which will bring your bottom jaw forward to match up with your top. In a few months they will put braces on your top 4 teeth to pull them together in order to make room for your canine teeth to come down. The first 2 days were a little rough, but you've been a trooper. I know it will be worth it in the end, but sometimes it's hard for a 9 year old boy to see that!
Right now you're involved with piano, guitar and swimming lessons. At school you're involved with student leadership (aka student council) senior choir and chess club. In May you'll play outdoor soccer again and we're not sure what you'll do this summer yet. You change your mind daily on what you want to be when you grow up. Sometimes it's an engineer, an astronaut, or a teacher. You have a soft heart and want to save the world. Someone came and gave a presentation at your school on getting clean water to villages in Africa and immediately you started coming up with ways you could fund raise to support this cause. You wanted to make hundreds of rainbow loom bracelets and sell them.
You are hot blooded except for first thing in the morning. When you get home from school you put shorts on immediately. You were the last one wearing shorts in the fall and you'll be the first to wear shorts in the spring. You are starting to ask really good questions and are very curious. The most recent one was why do people smoke? You are sneaky quiet...dad and I think we're watching a show by ourselves, but you are sitting on the step like a ninja! We have to be careful what we watch until we know you're sound asleep! You are picky about your toothpaste...only Colgate for you. You dislike using the bathrooms at school so you wait until you get home in the afternoon to go...seems like a long day for me, but somehow you manage! You walk around the house singing nonstop. These days it's mostly Bob Marley's "3 little birds" and Adele's "Hello".
You are 59 pounds and 51 inches per our home measurements. You wear size 2 shoe, size 8 slim pants and 8 shirts. Your hair and finger nails grow faster than anyone else I've ever met, you are a white milk drinker, hate seeing dad and me kiss, and you love your activities, but love staying home just as much. You can play by yourself in your room for hours..most of the time it involves lego, yughio cards or some recycling you took out of our bin. Chloe still sleeps with you every night and although you need reminding a lot, you take care of getting her food and water and plenty of treats too:)You are starting to stay home alone for really short periods of time and you love it. You are an emotional kiddo...you'll cry at the end of a sad part in a book or at the end of a movie and it seems to bother you for quite awhile afterwards too. You'll make a girl really happy someday with your emotional side! We sure love you Max David and can't wait to see what a great 9 year old you will be!

So fun, sis! Great post. Well, Max gets his irresponsible ways from me (don't worry, it'll get better at age 27) and the shorts thing - that would be from his uncle Brian.
