Happy 5th Birthday Miss Mya!

Dear Mya,

Today is your 5th birthday! I'm so happy it's finally here. I have a feeling I will be saying this every year because you will be one of the last ones of your friends to turn whatever age you are that year. You have been asking about being 5 since January:)

You are becoming quite the little girl these days. Your dad and I are so proud of the big sister you have become for Ivy. Just this week we had a babysitter and Ivy wanted nothing to do with her, but you were able to comfort her and make her happy. You tell me so much that you wish you were Ivy's mom or Ivy's babysitter! You are very girly..you love to have your nails painted and your hair done. You have been begging to have your ears pierced (daddy will have to give in sooner or later:) and to wear make up and high heels. When you grow up, you want to be a swimming lessons teacher. (as of yesterday:)

You still love a cup of strawberry-banana juice every morning. Your typical breakfast is two pieces of toast with cinnamon/sugar sprinkled on top and no crust. You are becoming an awesome eater. You will eat almost anything I give you and are starting to complain less and less about eating meat. For the amount of food that goes into your little body each day, you're bound to grow soon! You have been complaining about your legs hurting lately too so we're wondering if they're growing pains. Your 5 year check up isn't for a few weeks, but according to our measurements, you are 35 pounds, 38 inches and wearing size 8 1/2-9 shoes depending on the shoe. You wear size 5T dresses and shirts and size 3T-4T pants and shorts.

You are pretty active and seem to have some natural athletic talent. You're getting a lot better at tennis, you can play some mean basement volleyball, you rarely miss a pitch when daddy plays baseball with you, you are EVERYWHERE on the soccer field and have scored one goal and been soooooo close to scoring many more, you are getting better and better at swimming each day we go to the pool and your gymnastics skills are fantastic! I was a bit worried when you took off from a standing position on the ottoman right into a cartwheel on the floor, but it turned out perfect:)

You are very into babies, barbies, doll house, and dress up. I often see you over at the Lego table and playing with the dinosaurs as well! You're still daddy's #1 fan when he gets home from work. He can for sure count on one running hug every day and maybe more depending on what kind of mood Ivy is in and if Max is distracted by friends or the iPad.

You are ready for kindergarten for sure. You wanted to learn to read recently so we've been doing some sight words up on the wall and you have them down. We need to work a little bit on numbers (it's hard to remember what comes after 49 and 59 and 69) You love to color, write, draw, tape, glue, staple, cut, paint and glitter non stop along with your brother. Your writing is very neat and your coloring as well.

At times you can be shy around big groups, but warm up pretty fast. You still love to twirl your hair (and mine at bedtime) You are still very independent with getting dressed each day. Now you can also put your hair in a ponytail all by yourself which saves us lots of time each day! You have worn jeans twice this last year which is 2 more times than the previous year so we're making progress. You will wear jean shorts and a jean skirt with no complaints so there's hope!

We laugh at you all the time... you are constantly entertaining us and we absolutely love it. We are so happy you're our little girl!
