Max had his first meet last Wednesday. He only had 2 practices before the meet, but those seemed to go well so he was pretty excited! This is my kind of sport for an 8 year old. Twice a week they have a practice immediately after school (3:15-3:45) and then they have three meets total and are done by October 7th. Doesn't that sound just right??!? The 3rd grade boys ran last so we were there from 4:30-7:00, but thankfully it wasn't that cold and Max was having a ton of fun with his friends. The girls started off a little rough, but then they had a great time too! The jury is still out on the number of runners, but Max's coach (also his teacher) told him there were 200 grade 3 boys in the race. Max got 22nd place! Well, actually he got 21st, but he didn't know he had to get in the line after crossing the finish line so another little guy scooted in front of him. It was a 1300 meter race and he ran in 6:29. We were pretty proud and it was so fun to see him at a few different points in the race!
His cheerleaders! And yes...Ivy is choking Mya
Heading off with his team to get ready for the race!
Here go the boys! Max reported that there were a lot of boys who got tripped up at the starting line...but you can see why here!
Finishing hard!

Yea! Good job Max! Pretty sure Max will be beating me in the Turkey Trot this year...maybe it's time to pass this "super-fun" activity onto the grandchildren?
