Adios, Summer

Summer officially came to an end yesterday and today is the first day of fall. It's rainy and gloomy here in Eastern Iowa so it sort of feels like it as well. What a crazy summer we had. The best weather was in September when we had 20+ days of sun and temperatures in the mid 70's to 80's. We had our pool out more in the month of September than the rest of the months combined! All in all, a great summer. We got to see lots of friends and family and do lots of fun things!

I figure if David Letterman can do it, I should certainly be able to give it a shot. So here you go:

Top Ten Ways you know it's summer at the Hoden's house.
10.The sprinkler is always connected to the hose and the hose is never neatly wrapped up in its place. Seems like a waste of time to do that when we unravel it nearly everyday.
9. There are at least 15 popsicle sticks laying around the yard at any given point.
8. There are more flies than I care to admit in my house due to the fact that the doors get left open often.
7. The sand toys get left in the car just in case we decide to stop at a park when we're out and about.
6. There are a bunch of dead plants in pots on the deck...my attempt at a vegetable garden.
5. Despite all the sunscreen, the kids still have tan lines.
4. There is a load of laundry in the washer everyday.
3. There is sand in every room of the house. You could build a small castle with the leftovers in the tub at the end of the day.
2. Empty bubble containers are everywhere. The wands are nowhere to be found.
1. Our front and back yard looks like we are having a yard sale with Little Tike toys.

Bonus. The kids are naked or partially naked more than they are dressed.

Kelsey Rae - you're not in high school yet, don't knock the green thumb til you know for sure you won't have one.
